There are two versions of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for 2022: the new 2022 Silverado 1500 and the 2022 Silverado 1500 LTD. Why two variants? To prevent supply chain issues from disrupting the model’s availability at dealerships like the Kimberly Chevrolet dealer, GM rebranded the 2021 model as the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD. The Limited should remain in showrooms until there are ample supplies of the new 2022 Silverado 1500.
Buyers can get the Chevy Silverado 1500 LTD in one of eight trim levels: Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, Trail Boss, LTZ and High Country. Three cab configurations (regular, extended, and crew cabs) and three bed lengths mean the Silverado 1500 LTD can be configured to suit every need. According to the Kimberly Chevy dealer, customers who want to use the Silverado 1500 LTD for towing will enjoy a 13,000-pound towing capacity.
The powerplant lineup consists of four potent engines. The standard unit is a 2.7-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 310 hp and 348 lb-ft, linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission. A 5.3-liter V8 generates 355 hp and 385 lb-ft, mated to a six-, eight, or 10-speed automatic. A 6.2-liter V8 puts out 420 hp and 460 lb-ft, teamed to a 10-speed automatic. Buyers looking for a diesel unit can choose the 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbodiesel engine that’s good for 277 hp and 460 lb-ft, also coupled to a 10-speed automatic.
The Work Truck is the base trim. While it’s essentially a bare-bones model, it does come with more features than you’d expect to find in a workhorse model, such as 17-inch painted steel wheels, a 40/20/40 split folding bench seat, a rear-bumper CornerStep, 12 cargo tie-downs and a 7-inch touchscreen.
The Silverado 1500 LTD gets more features as you step up to the higher trims. At the top of the lineup, the High Country trim comes with the 5.3-liter V8 engine, 20-inch wheels, high-intensity headlights, heated and ventilated front seats, a power-operated tailgate, a spray-on bedliner, chrome assist steps, an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, and a Bose audio system.
An optional towing camera setup lets drivers view up to 15 different camera positions. Drivers get views of the sides of the pickup, off the rear of the cab, off the rear of the trailer, the trailer connection, from inside the trailer and more. There’s even a view that makes the trailer vanish virtually, allowing the driver to see right through the trailer.
The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD’s optional Trailering Package features a trailering hitch platform, an automatic locking rear differential, a four-pin connector, a 2-inch receiver, and a seven-wire harness with a seven-way sealed connector. Buyers can also select the available Max Trailering Package. It comes with revised shock tuning and upgraded rear springs. Tow mirrors are also optional.
