The turbo-four is coupled to an eight-speed automatic transmission. The V8s and the turbodiesel are linked to a 10-speed automatic. However, some four-wheel-drive Silverado 1500 models equipped with the 5.3-liter V8 engine get a six-speed automatic gearbox.
The Silverado 1500’s standard infotainment system comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a Wi-Fi hotspot. The LT and higher trims are outfitted with the 13.4-inch touchscreen and get upgraded to wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also a Google-powered voice-recognition system that allows the driver to speak commands to change the audio source, adjust the climate control system, and send text messages.
The new Chevrolet Silverado 1500 ZR2 trim is powered by the 6.2-liter V8 engine. Standard features include an enhanced two-speed transfer case with Terrain Mode, mud-terrain tires, a black grille with accent lighting, steel front and rear bumpers, a high-approach front bumper, Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers, animated LED headlamps, a hidden dual-outlet exhaust, unique skid plates, and exclusive interior styling.
The Chevy Safety Assist package is standard across the lineup. This safety suite includes a distance indicator, forward collision alert, front pedestrian braking, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and Intellibeam high-beam assist.
